Hello! I'm Victoria Burgess and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I embody a non-binary gender identity, use they/them pronouns, and work to actively acknowledge all of the areas that I hold privilege in. I received my MA in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Prior to opening my practice, I worked in residential and day treatment eating disorder services, college counseling, as well community mental health focusing on populations who have experienced trauma, substance use, and were a part of the queer community. My counseling foundation is rooted in person centered, humanistic and feminist theories. This means that I consider the systems, intersections of identities, and value client autonomy/collaboration when I'm working with folks. As an EMDR trained clinician, I strive to work within a trauma responsive framework which centers autonomy, grounding, harm reduction, and feeling safe within the therapy space. For specific interventions with clients, I draw heavily upon dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy(ACT), EMDR, and internal family system(IFS).
My practice centers those who are queer or questioning, have experienced trauma (both single event and complex), eating disorders, body image disturbances, gender dysphoria, those who struggle with anxiety/depression, and those are trying to figure their new season of life. Therapy is a vulnerable process based upon your desires, therefore I strive for all therapeutic decisions to be done collaboratively, consent driven, and with anti-oppressive frameworks at the forefront. I believe that you have the answers within you, we just may need to do work to uncover them. I'm more than happy to talk with you more about my practice and how I approach counseling with a free 15 minute consultation!
Outside of work I enjoy crafting, cooking, running, lifting, and spending time with folks that make me feel whole.
